Founded by Southern Ute and Dine (Navajo) artists and father and son, Oreland Joe, Sr. and son Bo Joe, the Sacred Youth Foundation has been established to provide an opportunity for today’s youth to absorb culture through art thereby preserving traditional culture.

Established in 2018, the Sacred Youth Foundation was founded by Oreland C. Joe Sr. and his son Bo Joe. The foundation provides today’s youth the opportunity to preserve culture through art from professional artists.

The foundation emerged from the inspiration of the “Dahayoigii Event”, founded by Oreland Joe Sr. in 2014, a summer program dedicated to planting a seed of inspiration, confidence, and culture in the from of traditional art to the Diné youth.

The Sacred Youth Foundation plans to expand to the youth of the nation with an experience to preserve culture through art.

Master sculptor, Oreland C. Joe, Sr. is world-renowned for his work in stone and bronze sculptures. His works can be found in private, corporate and museum collections in the United States and abroad.

Bo Joe is an accomplished jeweler. His work represents his traditional culture and circulates within museum and gallery markets across the United States.

The Sacred Youth Foundation grew out of Dahayoigii “The Strong Ones”, an annual event created by Oreland Joe, Sr. in 2014. Now in its 10th year, the event is run by world-class artists as instructors, introducing the traditional art of the Native American culture to 126 Navajo in grades 2nd-12th in a summer camp setting. The camp culminates in a cultural fair where the youth can display or perform what they have created during the 3-day event.

The charity serves the purpose of planting a seed of confidence through creativity and self-identity.
